Default Running too rich? Minor backfiring & gas coming out of the exhaust?

Is this running either too rich or too lean? How can I fix this problem?

Could be anything from a fuel injector stuck open or just an o2. Check both.

are you gettin ample spark? did you gap the plugs when you bought them or just threw them in? see if your gettins enough spark and your plugs are good. Than start checking to see if injectors are pulsing correctly (use noid light) then get back to me

Do you have a cat?

My car tends to do it a little after down shifting.

It seems normal..because my d16z6 runs strong.

I also notice this on most car's with just exhaust.

Just don't bother with it UNLESS its ''real bad''

When I only had an exhaust on my car (hated those days), if I was coasting down a hill and I lightly would tap on the gas it would backfire.

Default firing

Well i dont know why you would complain about that... I cant make it do the little popping in the exhaust if i barley rest my foot on the gas pedal... i like the way it sounds... might make me a dork but it reminds me of my rx7... let off the gas at night get the spitting and sputtering and it would throw flames...

Peace

Mine grumbles like that when I decellerate. I'm pretty sure it's just fuel that is burning up in the exhaust due to running rich. That and a combination of the injectors not closing fast enough is probably the cause. Sounds pretty bad *** though.
