Running a SOHC ECU on a B16A2
Hello, Im just starting to complete my swap and am just waiting on a couple of parts. I havnt received my conversion harness to run the OBD1 B16 in my OBD2 civic cx yet and am anxious to see it start. I figured that the SOHC ECU had the same firing order and everything for the distributor so i plugged it in and started it up. The car cranked and turned over really weakly and stayed on for a couple seconds (maybe 10 sec or so). My question is, would the SOHC ECU cause the engine to run weakly or did I do something wrong in the wiring?

Ok, the reason why the CX ecu is making the car run like *** is because you have an OBD1 B16A in your car. The B16 being an OBD1 engine makes it ill-compatible with your CX ecu, mainly because of the CKF sensor, which is this sensor integrated on the oil pump of all US OBD2 B & D-series engine:
If that sensor isn't hooked while using any US OBD2 ecu, the car will run like crap, as you're experiencing. Once you get the ecu harness adaptor to run an OBD1 ecu in your car, all your OBD2 problems will go away...the engine should run fine/idle perfect.
I'm curious...
Did you remove all of the OBD1 components and replace them with OBD2 parts, such as the distributor, injectors, alternator, etc ?

no it's not the wiring problem you should be able to run the vtec wire to the ecu if your running the b16 on your stock harness until you get the new one. it's defently your ecu causing the problem.

Thanks all for the replies, I figured out the problem. I bought new spark plug wires and after i installed them the idle was much better. It started out rough but after it ran for a little it smoothed out alot. I guess there was alot of crap stuck in the engine but then it just spit it all out. The car still stumbles around 1500 to 2000 rpm but im thinking its just the ecu. I guess i should just stop being so impatient and wait for the conversion harness.

For the distributor I just spliced in the plug from the OBD1 harness and put it on the OBD2 harness. I just swapped the SOHC injectors onto the DOHC since there both 240cc. I swapped the alternator plugs too as along with the IACV, IAT, and I extended a whole bunch of stuff. FUN SIET MAGN........
