hi everyone, new here.

so since i bought the car i have a Air-Fuel Ratio gauge that the previous owner had in the car.

what he says is that he ran a Type-R engine in the car and used it for racing, ( thats all he told me ) and that he parted out the engine and dropped in a D16y7 from a 00 model.

now with that gauge i really didnt notice anything wierd, but it always, since i bought it, ran RICH everytime i stepped on the gas to drive the car. everything is stock, o2 sensors all the stuff in the car is stock.

i've been reading that running Rich, gives you crappy gas mileage, but i always get around 32-36 mpg, street and highway combined, mostly highway.

is there really a problem??
or is it that the gauge and the OEM o2 sensor are just crap together and i should get ride of the gauge?

PLEASE HELP!

almost forgot 98 civic Dx D16y7, completely stock
and i just found out that my headers are cracked almost all way around.

Get a wide band O2 sensor, it will have 5 wires. They're much more accurate. And Hondas usually do run rich, it helps prevent detonation and helps to cool the valves. Too rich though, and you will wash oil off of the cylinder walls.
