Default Running Rich? B16a2

The other day i noticed some smoke coming out the exhaust and horrible gas milage.I took a whiff and it's def unburned fuel. The motor is a stock B16a2, ive had an exhaust leak for a little while now but thats been fixed, but i'm wondering if maybe my o2 sensor is bad? No cel's, P72 ecu. Ive changed plugs, cap and rotor, timing belt and water pump. Timing is good so i can rule that out. Also i'm sure the valves have never been done as i can hear them talking to me when i start the car, could that have something to do with it?? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Dude im sorry im having the same problem and I cant figure out what the heck the deal is I have to same engine but mine is mildly built and I've been told to get it tuned but here in NC there arent many places I can trust with my care, I see your running a P72 ecu you may want to switch to the P2T ecu and see if that might work.

Well it's kinda wierd if you ask me. I mean it was running fine for month's, minus the exhaust leak, but all of a sudden just driving home it starts smoking. I have a P28 that i can stick in there to see if it helps, but other than that idk. This point i'm at a loss

first off get a p30. your using a gsr or sohc dseries ecu. neither are the right ones unless they have basemaps.

then see how your doing.

But also, if it was the ecu, wouldn't it have caused problems from day one? Not 4 or 5 month's later....?

I'm not sure as to what Sweeping is? But i've jumped the service connector to see if there are any stored codes and came up with nothing. I kinda was hoping i'd have a code so i'd have a place to start looking but nope. Has anyone seen an o2 sensor take a **** without throwing a code?

sweeping im guessing what he means is when the o2 goes from lean to rich then back to lean. as it does when it's operating.

my point was your using a GSR(b18c) ecu to run a b16 engine. and i didn't think about obd2; i never do. so you want to try the P2T which someone already mentioned.
no, it can run it just fine for awhile. but be off ever so slightly that sooner or later will cause a problem.
