Default Running Rich?

I seem to be having the same problems as this other member in this thread

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=989648

Symptoms are smoke at high RPM / vtec.

I dont know if this is related at all or what but when I am driving at high rpm's sometimes i hear a pop coming from my exhaust while shifting gears.

Anyone have any helpful ideas or any thing that might be the cause of these problems?

engine b16a2 [99/00] "chipped" p28 in 93 coupe.

my old GSR setup blew crazy black clouds at high rpms. did you re-use your stock piping/muffler?

check for exhaust leak around and before the 02 sensor. that will cause a rich running condition especially in vtec. might also explain why you hear the popping from the back pressure in the exhaust system

Nah I didnt re-use the stock piping/mufler.

I MAY have an exhaust leak though.. so maybe thats its. How would that make the popping noise though? Anyone care to explain?

i was gonna say backpressure if you kept your little 2.25 piping. but since you yanked that, i would check all the connections and make sure everything is bolted properly.

Here's the thing about the popping...

It just recently started to happen, maybe a month ago at the most... I really dont understand why either.
