Running Rich
This is a b18b in a 97 civic. Well I got the cat (and 2nd o2 sensor) hooked up and now have no codes. Well the car is running rich. I have a A/F gauge and its all the way rich at idle. It will not move from the richest position. I don't know what the problem is. I have the stock civic fuel pump. I'm scared to drive it because of the rich condition. Also at idle there is black smoke coming out the exhaust at idle, or any rpm for that matter so I guess it is rich.

Re: Running Rich (WAFFLES)
Why do I need a fuel pressure regulator. Could this be the problem? The engine is basicaly brand new so would the old fpr be bad from being unhooked all this time?

Re: Running Rich (97hb)
Well I was running the engine and noticed if I push the gas down fast the a/f gauge will start to lean out as the car is dying out. If I push the gas down slowly the revs keep climing and the a/f gauge shows it running fully rich (last green led), if its idleing it shows the same fully rich bar. Also pulled the iac plug off while the car was running and it died. Isn't that supposed to make it just idle lower?

Re: Running Rich (97hb)
it could be ur fuel pressure is too high at idle or so. stock is 40-48 psi i think. try to get a fuel pressure gauge so u will know psi u r at so u can adjust it with the regulator to lean it out from ur rich.
