rta bushings
hella pissed, the rubber part of the rta bushings are splitting. too lazy to replace them, looking for a temp ghetto fix until i get the money to have them replaced. thinking about buying some of that strong as$ 2 part glue at autozone and putting glue in the cracks of my rta bushings. sounds like itd work. i know its going to be like a 600 dollar repair

Re: rta bushings
i'm assuming you're looking for opinions on your idea and suggestions?
I don't think glue would be such a good idea, it's too stiff and would only widen the cracks.
I'd suggest replacements.
However, if you HAVE to do the ghetto-fix, try silicone, like rtv or something. maybe silicone sealant?

The glue "may" hold. however, there is no way to tell how much force that bushing is getting, nor how much your ghetto fix will hold.
Run them as is, until can pick up some new bushings.

Re: rta bushings
thanks for the advice. i certainly hope its cheaper the 600 bucks lol. the glue im about to use can witstand 3500 psi, at least it says so on the wraper. ive used this glue to fix broken tabs on several oem civic si lips and the glue dries as stiff as a rock, works nice. i think its called plastic weld. you get it at auto zone and orilleys

stiff as a rock is not exactly what you should be aiming for when it comes to trailing arm bushing, especially for a DD......
Do some read ups on how to change the bushings yourself.. you can buy both from energy suspension for under 50 bucks and it would be a 5 hour long saturday job at most

Re: rta bushings
use 3m window weld glue at autozone. its like $20, but well worth it. ive used it on my a/c torque mount and lower transmission mount since july 2010 and is still holding in place. heres a link--> http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc..._&target=shelf

Re: rta bushings
Just buy the bushings and replace them urself, u'll save a lot of money out of the $600 mentioned and u'll get to know ur car better, just a heads up, if u buy the energysuspension bushings u'll have to use the stock metal part in the bushing that bolts onto the chasis, and that to me its more work. When I did mine, I spent like $40 from ebay (about a year installed and still going strong), about 5-6hrs with the install by myself and got to know my little girl even better, just my 2cents but its up to you

Re: rta bushings
I also replaced the LCA bushings on my own as well since I was down there and did the washer trick on one back wheel because it was off camber spec for some weird reason. Whichever way u go for the rta bushings, u'll have to get an alignment afterwards. Good luck man.

Re: rta bushings
Mine had some negative camber in the rear when I bought. Completly stock.
it's really not a problem.

Re: rta bushings
$600 job???? Even $300 is Highway robbery. If you removed the trailing arm yourself a shop should only charge 20 bucks per bushing to press in. I am guessing rta means rear trailing arm. Buy OEM for $60 and do it yourself. It is one of the easiest jobs Most important thing is make sure the bushing is at the correct angle with the trailing arm at the ride height so there isn't binding if that makes sense. There is a youtube vid of how to do it.
