rpms & vtec engagement

rpms & vtec engagement
I'm trying to find the exact oem specs of the crossover for vtec on a obd1 jdm b16. Everywhere I search is giving me different results, the issue is the ecu I'm using is a obd2a jdm ecu, it isn't labeled but the first crossover is at 4500 and it causes the car to bog a bit till it climbs to almost 6000 and it starts to pull hard. I've always been under the assumption the oem crossover point is 5200? Correct or not? Other than this I'm currently looking around for another ECU to try.. Help cause the crossover at such a low rpm blowsss... Spanks

5700 is the proper crossover point for a b16 if i can remember correctly.
Sounds like a GSR ecu is being used, which has the IABs engage at 4500, and VTEC around 6000ish. Change out your ECU to the correct one.

Other way around, brozef. GSR ECU = VTEC @4500, IAB @6K.
But yes, OP, it sounds like you're using a GSR ECU.
Your VTEC should engage around 5500-6k. Actual engagement is 5700 or 5800, but tachs are off. So you'll see it indicated at around 5500-6k. It will sound like the apocalypse, and the car wont move any faster or any slower. It will start moving faster at around 6500-7k.

....but...vtec points are programmable on hondata aren't they?. How does this help the question?
