RPM METER SHOOTING UP?
Hey so like my rpm meter is like shooting up to the very limited and going back to where it was before but it has no effect on the engine just goes up and right back occasionally it will go up to 7000rpm but run as if it where 3000 rpm what do you guys think about it? I have a 1998 Honda Civic ex coupe d16y8

Re: RPM METER SHOOTING UP?
It could be one of two issues...
1) The tach itself could be going bad.
2) The ICM or coil inside the distributor could be failing... and if it happens to be a cheap azz replacement from a local auto parts store... or even worse, from Ebay or Amazon... this is likely your problem. Get a genuine Honda distributor and you will be fine.
