RPM Jumping randomly

RPM Jumping randomly
Was driving home from work and its about 40 degrees here in toronto with humidity and sometimes when coming to a stop sign or red light i put it in neutral and the car stays at 2000rpm for about four or five seconds before it drops down to 700rpm what could be cauaing this? IIm running a b16a2 in a 93 eg coupe

Hey ron, i just cleaned it the weeks ago do you think it would be gunked up that quick? And when i cleaned it, it wasnt that bad at all i could see through the mesh

Any CEL codes?
Does the throttle body have an FITV?
Have you bleed the cooling system?
Have you adjusted the idle speed as per the service manual procedure?

No codes thrown, cleaned fitv during the iacv cleaning, bled the system
No i didnt adjust idle speed its staying at 750-800 range. Ahhh alright i will adjust the throttle cable i recently tightenes it a bit a didnt know it needed slack i though the throttle cable maybe got worn over time so i tightened it

At the point in the cable indicated in the diagram, you should be able deflect/move the cable 3/8" to 1/2" from center. In other words, there should be 3/8" to 1/2" of free play in the cable - cable movement that would not open the throttle plate.

Throttle plate was binding ended up being the culprit. I guess the hot weather made the gunk in the throttle body sticky so i cleaned it out as far in as i could reach. Works fine now, no jumping rpm.
