rpm goes up and down ..plz help

rpm goes up and down ..plz help
i have a 98 ls and that engine is driving me crazy. the rpm moves up and down. my friend told me to clean this part behind the intake manifold with brake cleaner, which i did, and spray some brake cleaner into the intake manifold to clean it , which is did also. but the problem that i have would not stop.. please help me

When you "cleaned" the "part behind the intake manifold" (Thats called an IACV btw) did you remove it from the manifold to get into the ports, or did you just spray it while attached?
You could also just have air in the coolant - open the radiator cap, wrap some paper towels around the mouth, start the car and let it run until the fan turns on and then replace the cap.

Also you said that you sprayed brake cleaner into you intake manifold. I hope you dont mean you ACTUALLY sprayed it into the intake mani w/ the throttle body open.

i did remove the part and sprayed it with the brake clean.. the liquid that came out was really dirty looking.....but i will surely try removing air from the radiator..

i dont mean the coolant is dirty. i mean the brake cleaner came out dirty so the IACV was pretty dirty. is there any other cause beside the air bubbles in the coolant???
