Default Be rough on my car?

This is a SERIOUS question.

I have a 1995 Honda Civic EX with the stock D16Z6. The car has 155,xxx miles on it, and before I bought it it was taken pretty nice care of.

My question is, can I be rough driving it or should I be more gentle with it? (not hit vtec more than once a day) I've only redlined it once in second gear. I know for a Honda 155k isnt a lot of miles, but I still worry that I'm going to **** something up and blow the motor, which would not be good since it would take me about 6 months to save up for a new engine, in which time I wouldnt be able to get to work or school.

So, can I be rough with her or should I be more gentle? How hard is it to blow these engines?

TIA

I'm the "proud" owner of a 1993 Civic SI with the stock d16z6. It's got 241,000 miles on it and I thrash it pretty hard when it's necessary. Just don't make a habit of it and keep the engine in good repair and you can abuse it all you want. Just remember: no engine that comes in a Honda was built specifically to be abused, so the more you rip on it, the more likely you'll encounter a problem.

Hmmm...since I'm not a speeder or a racer in any capacity, I'd say I only hit VTEC about twice a day and redline almost never (only in emergency situations). Recently, though, I've taken her up to redline a couple times through second and there has been no problem.
