Rough idle /stumble
1995 Civic Coupe DX. D15B7 no mods. Auto. 330K body/trans,180K engine
As it has gotten cooler in the northeast, my engine has developed a 'stumble'/ miss while idling, after starting
No CELs, normal strong crank and run. During the warmer months, it would take a half second longer crank to start. As it got cooler,it starts within in a half second of turning the key.
This week end I plan on pulling /inspecting the plugs. and possibly replacing the sparkplug wires (they are 2 years old).
The only recent work done on the engine, was a replacement of the valve cover gasket / sparkplug tube seals. After that,I developed the longer cranking during warm weather. I will also check the ground connections to the VC and thermostat, just on the chance they might need cleaning.
Are there any obvious things to check, before I look into distributor components,or throttle body condition?

Re: Rough idle /stumble
Hello,Ron. Thanks, no oil in distributor, though I haven't changed the cap/ rotor in about 4 years, so that may be my other first thing to replace. The warm weather longer crank occurred AFTER the VC gasket was replaced, so I suspected any grounds they had to remove to work on the top. Although having the crank time improve,as the weather gets cooler DOES point to some TB area adjustment. Thanks for the pointers.

Agree cap and rotor, if you see the white oxide residue on the distributor cap contact posts, that's part of the problem. After 4 years go with fresh cap and rotor.
