Rough idle to no start. Help?

Rough idle to no start. Help?
So I have a 97 civic lx.
It's been sitting for 3 months. A couple of days ago I tried to start her and it was a no go. So I replaced the battery and the starter. (Yes, this was the problem) Before the I did this, with a jump, it ran perfect until the battery died and of course the starter dying.
When I changed the starter I didn't drive the car until today. I thought I did the need too because heck, the car started so on thought I was in the clear.
This wasn't the case however. Today I when driving to work the car struggled to push it's weight. The idle was choppy as well when increasing rpm. When I was 3/4 of the way to work, I stopped at a stop light and it died. I tried restarting and nothing.
At this point, I'm not sure, perhaps it was because I reset the ECU when changing the starter? I had to disconnect the negative terminal. Before the starter was changed I did have a code thrown for bad O2 sensor. Maybe the ECU isn't reading airflow correct and creating the right mix?
Even so this doesn't explain why the car doesn't start.
Any advice would be appreciated thanks!

Re: Rough idle to no start. Help?
Spark plugs are less than a year old.
Could definitely be fuel or something. I'm at work but I'll read this soon.
No mouse in air filter. Had to remove it to get to the starter. It was put back the same way it was taken apart.
I once had a 96 honda accord that had a similar issue. It was with a air flow sensor being off. It would cause the car to bog and die if under 1500 rpm.
This case seems similar but unlike the accord, this civic does not start at all.
Keep the info and suggestions coming please. Thank you

So walk us through the starting, trying to start, the car.
turn key to On. Hear anything?
Turn from ON to IGN.. What happen there? Any noise, click, etc..
Does it crank but won't start?
Or does it make 1 click sound? Same every time?

Okay.
So when you open the door and get in all lights are go.
Put in the key, clutch down, and twist.
As soon as I twist you hear the starter go and the car try to start.
I'm not sure in the exact terminology but to me it does "crank ". Please correct my usage of the term if I'm incorrect.
Imagine a cold day trying to start your car. You twist your key and it goes dit, dit, dit ,dit. You hear the engine (or is this just the starter sound?) trying to start but it doesnt. With a good starter on a cold day maybe you'd year the car struggled to start, but it'd start, but this car does not.
Starter and battery are new. Spark plugs are less than a year old.

Re: Rough idle to no start. Help?
There is no noise other at this time other than the car trying to start. If I have time tomorrow and haven't fixed it with the solutions you guys are providing I'll mostly likely post a video of the car.
All the advice is much appreciated thank you!

Re: Rough idle to no start. Help?
I would start by checking the ground cable, tranny to chassis. Replace if corrosion present.
check both cable on the starter and make sure it is tight and secured.
If you jump it, will the car start and run?

check to hear if your fuel pump is priming when you turn the key on, if not check all the fuses, and your main relay. If that dont work change your fuel filter and fuel pump.

Re: Rough idle to no start. Help?
sounds like your distributor **** the bed. turn key to "on", listen for a faint hum near the back seat. if you hear it, the pump is priming. if you don't have a spark tester, pull a plug and wire. connect the plug to the wire, and use a good ground point in the bay to touch it to. have a buddy crank the car over, gas pedal floored to prevent flooding. the spark (if present) should be blue/white if healthy. report back with results.
