Rotten Egg Smell
Well i was coming home from work and I was parking my car in the garage it's a 1999 civic SI with a stock B16 just with intake and a Kn&n filter. I periodically pop my hood from time to time just to make sure everything was aok and rev up not to high just till about 2400 just to make sure every thing is cool. Well after i shut it down i could smell a rotten egg smell emitting from the rear. My question is how come anyone have any ideas ?? I recently put a set of wires and plugs in and my Kn&N filter is a bit bigger but that shouldn't make much of a differance should it ??
Thanks for the help in advance

Re: Rotten Egg Smell (civic 2ner)
most likely a rotten egg smell is from a clogged/bad catalytic converter. check that out, that should be your problem!

Re: Rotten Egg Smell (civic 2ner)
Rotten egg smell could be caused by a bad cat but it could be a series of problems you got going on there. The smell from the exhaust is not a sign of a bad cat. is a sign of the kind of improper mixture that will ultimately cause your cat to go bad. Before replacing the cat, look into the kinds of problems that can cause improper mixture such as a faulty o2 sensor
