Rotors
I have a problem , after removing the calipers on my 00' Civic Si , I find that I'm unable to remove the two phillips head screw. When I attempted, the screws seemed like they are about to strip. I've used a phillips head that fits perfect and using a couple of guys to help me push on the screw for force. How da heck do i get them out without stripping them or do i drill them out and buy new screws? Please help, I'd like to get my warped rotors out.

Re: Rotors (mano77)
you have to use an impact tool(i forgot the exact name). it looks like a screw driver but it is spring loaded and you hit the end of the handle with a rubber mallet or a hammer. each time you hit it, it turns the screw.
when you use a screw driver, it is 99% of the time gonna get stripped.

Oh ok, I guess I gotta take it to my buddy at Honda. Thanks for the info. That kept me from going through pain and suffering.

Just for info, you can go up to Sears and get a craftsman impact driver for 30 bucks witha lifetime warranty. Don't get the one from autozone or wherever, I broke two of em before getting the craftsman. After you get one you will find numerous uses for it, very handy tool, worthy cheap investment.

Re: Rotors (bagelw)
Yes already warped rotors. I only feal them shaking the whole car when stopping from high speeds. To add to that , I also AutoX frequently whether its on or off the track. You know where I'm getting at.

Re: Rotors (mano77)
i went through this many times. the impact method sounds good as well. but, what i did was, i used a drill bit large enough to fit the head of the screw and drilled the head 'til it was really thin. (you might have to use several drill bits). after you get the head of the screw really thin, thread in a bolt on the rotor that have threads on them. this hole is designed to remove an old rotor or any rotor that is difficult to remove.
if you thread the bolt in far enough and if the head of the screw is thin enough, the rotor will pop right out. and just go to the dealer or home depot to replace the screws

Re: Rotors (Phantom)
or you could get a big screw driver and a hammer
hit the screwdriver will turning the screwdriver...
works better than just the screwdriver
but not as well as impact screwdriver
but the impact screwdriver should work after like 2 hits

Re: Rotors (Crazydave)
drill the heads off, then remove the stubs leftover with a drill grinder or dremel tool.
the phillips head screws hold the rotor on during manufacturing and any susp/brake work. but when driving the vehicle, they have NO function, as the hub locates the rotor and the lugnuts will hold the wheel and rotor to the hub.
us upstate NY'ers drill the heads off because ours always rust on and are too much of a PITA to remove. HTH
