Rotor/Distributor cap terminals keep burning
97 civic ex, started bogging below 3000 rpms and just a lack of power in general a few months ago so i did a routine tune up: fuel filter, o2 sensor, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor.
At the time i noticed the rotor was and cap points were burnt nicely.
Fast forward 2000 miles since replacing it...i opened the cap for the hell of it today and rotor and cap points were burnt exactly the same. I grabbed some sandpaper and sanded them back down to visible metal.
Question is, is this normal? If not, what would cause it and could what is causing be the source of the bogging/hesitation/lack of power. Even after sanding the tips clean, i still bog.
