rotating assembly bearing question
whats up guys i hvae a question on the crank and connecting rod bearings. im doing and OE rebuild on my Z6 and my service manual tells me there are diff bearings to use according to the numbers stamped on the back of the block. my question is that if im not using oem bearings will i have to use specified bearings from aftermarket supliers or can i use ones that are according to journal size? as in oil clearance??

Re: rotating assembly bearing question
There are different bearings for each rod. They are color coded. You have to take the numbers off of the Rods and the numbers off of the crank to figure out what kind of bearings you need for the rods. Then you have to take the numbers off the block and the numbers off the crank to figures out your main bearings. Here are a couple of charts for the B16, D16y5, D16y7 and the
D16y8. Im not sure if they are the same for the Z6 but it should help you find what you are looking for.
