Re: Rotas and oem lugs (redex94)
i've always thought aftermarket wheels can't accept Honda "acorn" style lugs. I think the tapered kind may be the ones you should use.

you should get aftermarket lugs. oem ones will strip the finish off easily, and they suck. get hubcentric rings too.
if you search for lug, lugs, lug nuts etc you'll find some good info. stay away from mugen

i bought mugen lugs, and they suck *****. the key is stripping, the paint is coming off. torqued 5 times.
i now use a torque wrench on them, like i should have in the first place - so it's partially my fault. but they still suck ***** for the price.

ahh...these are the ones i have, and indeed one has stripped. I am overall satisfied since Ive had them for over a yr and it's only one that's f'd up. If another one strips, i'm goin extended lugs

Definitely stay away from Kyokugen, I've learned that the VERY hard way... OEM ones should serve the purpose temporarily though
I'm running Skunk2 extended studs with Skunk2 lugs, no complaints yet...

i had kyogens on my old car.... took the rims on/off tons of times w/o problems. i always loosened them with a lug wrench, tightened them with a torque wrench. no probs here

Okay, here's what you actually wanted to know: OEM lug nuts have a "ball seat" lug. Most aftermarket rims, including Rotas, use an "acorn seat" lug.
Don't get Gorilla lugs, at least not the coloered ones, they chip VERY easily. Also, think about if you're ever going to get extened wheel studs now, so you can get open-ended lugnuts now instead of two sets cuz they can cost between $70-$130.

Re:
Kyokugen's are not that bad as long as you use a proper torque wrench. If they're put on with an impact, forget about it.
I usually put on a light coat of anti-seize and torque them to 75-80 lb/ft. They come off like butter.
Only problem I had was when a mechanic at the alignment shop put them back on with an impact. I stripped my key when I tried taking them off the next time. Luckily I bought a spare key.

Good to hear that about the Kyokugen lugs...I was starting to sweat as I read the replies above. Does the seven sides make it more succeptible to impact damage than other lugs? I have some black ones that are yet to be installed and some Mcgard lugs too.

So you decide to "clear things up" 20 posts in and you don't even use the proper terminolgy like EVERYONE else in the thread did...
A. Stock lugs (for cars equipped with steel wheels) are ACORN style lugs to acomodate the rounded seat of the steel wheel.
B. Lugs designed for Aluminum wheels (some stock aluminum wheels still use acorn lugs but to my knowledge NOT MANY) are TAPERED style lugs...
As far as mugen lugs sucking... I don't know about that... they suck for the price because they're just stock honda TAPERED lugs. With a locking lug...
As far as the key or lock stripping... I can't imagine what the hell you could do to make that happen but the ones I have couldn't EVER strip.... period... there are about 10-13 contact points and ALL of them are rounded off so the contact patch is not on the edge but up against the body of the lug... Also the key ONLY fits on the lug ONE way... so it makes a VERY good connection...
I can't imagine EVER stripping the keyed lug. Or the key.
They're NOT worth the money but they're perfectly good lugs.... they're OEM TAPERED lugs (if they're not, they're identical) with a lock.
I'd go with a reputable lightweight lug. I'm not sure what the concensus is but there are LOTS of threads on this and there is DEFINATELY a concensus.

Got the black gorilla tuner lugs from discount.

$25 buck with a key. Change tires every race. Cordless impact driver off, torque wrench on. Cheap and dependable.

Re: Rotas and oem lugs (redex94)
i have a set of kyokugen lugs and have no probs with them. i have put them on and taken them off quite a few times too. i would suggest getting some locking lugs for the simple fact that it might keep your rotas on your car. at least slow down some punk *** thieves. my buddy actually has OEM lugs on his rotas and he seems to have no problems but i didnt say anything to him. hope he doesnt have probs
