Default Are rota slipstream rims good for track racing/auto-x?

I have a 95 civic ex coupe with some engine and suspension work done and plan on taking it to local tracks for some fun. Right now I have GSR rims with bridgestone Potenza 009 rubber (195/50/15). I was thinking of going to the rotas in a 16 inch by 7.0 to get some wider tires on it. Good move or bad? Any other wheels or sizes better and I don't have a tone of money to spend on rims either.

I have a set of Rota Slips on my 96 Ek' w/ mods done and im a frequent auto-x-er, they're a great light wheel weighing only 11 pounds a piece i believe. It's a great pick up if you have money, can't go wrong w/ some r-compound tires as well, i'd suggest yokohama AO-32r's or Kumho victo-racers.

Rotas, especially the Slipstreams, make perfectly good track wheels. I'd suggest 15" for a larger and less expensive selection of tyres.

They can, but when you slam any wheel against an immovable object in cold temperatures, something has to give.

My buddy uses 16" slips on his DC2, he's constantly using different tires but they work really well from what he tells me.

Spoon (desmond) wheels are forged so they are stronger than cast rota's but even $4000 BBS wheels will crack from that kinda stress.
