which rods???
okay, im in the process of a mild build ls/vtec...heres my setup that i plan on running and then my question....
b18a1 block (stock bore/stroke) with a blockguard, Spoon itr standars bore p73 pistons...b16a head, type r cams and valvetrain, itr intake mani/tb. either a chipped p28 or a p30...
now...my question is...im deadly afraid of throwing a rod in this motor, i dont know why, just thinking about my pistons, valves, valvetrain and block all going in the trash. Should i run my stock ls rods and will it be safe for 8k or should i upgrade to some eagles? i though it would be kind of stupid to run eagle rods on a somewhat oem piston, but then again i also think its kind of dumb throwing a rod which one would you guys suggest?

Re: which rods??? (sol_guy8569)
one more question...will the small end of the eagle rod give me any problems with fitting the oem wrist pin or will it be just like attaching a (machined) ls rod to an itr piston?

Re: which rods??? (OneFiveAlive)
okay, now this may be a problem....
i know that most (if not all) aftermarket rods are made for a full-floating wrist pin, and that most OEM pistons use pressed wrist pins...
my question is...does anybody know if eagle/crower/manley/pauter or whoever makes a stronger rod that you can use on an OEM piston?

Re: (v4lu3s)
Well personally for 8k I think you'll be peferectly fine with stock LS rods.
i would invest in some ARP rod bolts though, which are cheap.
if your redline is just 8,000 to 8,300rpms you'll be fine.
save that mother for a clutch.
------
Also ask yourself what kind of driver are you?
I peronally don't get into vtec 7 redline more than 1-2 a day if any. but some people beat the **** out of their cars. & lsvtec are not the best for high reving as you know.

Re: (Charlie Moua)
If you like to beat your car to death, use aftermarket rods but if you are a resposible driver who just likes to have the power under the hood when you need it get your rods pinned or pined however you spell it.
