Default Rod Bearing: Sorry Search is Down

How would you know when you lose a rod bearing? Lastnight on my way home i hearad my valves tapping a little louder than usual and i thought no big deal i'll just get it home and adjust them tomorrow. Well about 10 miles later of normal driving never going above 5krpm, I start to hear a very loud metal to metal like noise...It sounded like it was coming from the bottom end. What could this be?

It was also smoking quite a bit for the past week...i thought it was due to either the rings or the valve seals.

Is it making any knocking sound at about 1200 rpm and up? and the smoking is prolly the rings like you said

Drain the oil in some manner so you can use some fine metal mesh to catch metal particles. If you have a bunch, then something in your engine is toast.

That does NOT sound good at all.
I would stop driving your car now till you figure out whats going on, before you do more damage.

well if its doing that knocking sound you got about 100 miles left on the bottom end. i had a paseo before my civic and thats what it did... you must have been drivin hard but your gonna need to rebuild it soon or get a new motor cuz you run the danger of throwin a rod

Yeah..I stopped driving it once i heard the knocking get louder. Is it possible for both of the rod bolts to come off of one rod and the rod is just moving freely around in the case and the crank is just banging the hell out of it? Cuz it still runs but it will miss as if there are only three cylinders pumpin.
