Default Rimmer S/C kit?

I was reading an article comparing superchargers and turbo's and their effectiveness, and at the very end they mentioned somethin about a Rimmer S/C kit and it putting out a good amt of power. Anyone know what they are talkin about?

hrrrrrmmm.... here is the quote:
"In a daily driver, the supercharger is the epitomy of useable power. Throw in the use of a Lysolm, such as the Rimmer kit for the Civic Si, and you're looking at a LOT of useable power. "

from a different web board. Hondalife. I read a good article there on Intake technologies and such, and saw this one there and decided to read it.

I've heard of them, and their product, but I can't find any info on the web. They used to have a site......

I believe they were getting JRSC DOHC VTEC numbers out of a SC SOHC VTEC motor........

I'll keep looking when I have a chance.......

after reading the article and reading other numerous literature on S/C on small engine applications.. it's just not feasible.. in no way do they show proof of the power.. and as most Honda people know there is no bolt in cooling for the Roots-type S/C's that are offered except for some One off custom made ones and the aquimist cooler that JR sells.. though it is understandable that it will make excellent torque in low RPM compared to a Turbo.. but u can also redsign the Manifold of a turbochargered car to compensate for the "TURBO LAG" and also most S/Cs are not cheap and adding the Price of a I/H/E.. with cam gears..and other various parts the price seems to be almost simliar to any turbo car..but I would be glad if some company did produce a 80% efficent root-type S/C .. but that is unheard of as only Centrifugal and Turbos can be so efficent
ohh and please don't compare adams' tein M90'S with a 3.0L motor larger as a good case for a Civic Si with a 1.6l engine to go S/C..though I have seen some quick S/Ced civics..it seems the GSR engine is probably the best platform for the S/C since they do use a larger eaton S/C than the Civic si's or civic sohcs.. my .02 cents.. CRAP ON ME IF I AM WRONG =p

I'll just crap on you a little bit

The Civic Si (B16A2) and the GSR (B18C1) engine use the same M62 blower. The SOHC and DOHC non-VTEC motors (I think) use the M45 blower.

There is work afoot to use an M90 on a bored GSR block (2.0L)......but I doubt it'll be traditionally mounted.

You still need exhaust for a turbo kit.....

I believe the rimmer kit used a sandwich intercooler between the blower and the head.

well the original DOHC VTEC 1.6L kit used the M45.. not the M62.. but I dont know if JR had changed it.. but I do recall them using the M45 =P but I would hope for a good kit for the now older b series vtec engines....but an exhaust for a turbo can be a straight PIPE =Pand a tip .. hehe

so ryan when are u getting youe endyn M90 S/C back =P

well, all interesting, but he makes a point about usable street power that i agree with. If more boost was able to come of it, then it would make for a much better system.
im gonna try and find this rimmer kit

Yup, you're right. The original DOHC VTEC del Sol supercharger was based on the M45, but they changed that to the M62 since it spun the SC too fast. Now I can't confirm if the DOHC VTEC del Sol JRSC kit is the same as the JRSC DOHC VTEC Civic Si kit, though common sense would say it is.....

wow I just was reading my little DIY STREET Supercharging book that any person can find at the library.. hehe and I was reading up on the Lysholm Screw-type Compressor..basically it states that it can reach 80%adiabatic effciency compared to most roots type which only see 50%..but since the cost of it in the past, production cost was to high due to the design using 2 mismatched Rotors but with the availability of Cad design and better manufacturing ability it seems the cost can come down.. but it seems only a few companies have even worked with this blower..interesting good luck Big and another beautiful thing of the Lysholm charger is that it does not need any internal lubrication as well as no contacting parts or friction drag except for the Rotors themselves

I've always heard that the Si and GSR kits had m45 blowers. Prelude has m62.

I really want to see some factual information from this, i hear different things everyday.

Heard "my version" from Sonny Van Hook (Sonny on H-T) who had the JRSC on his Civic Si. He had the M62.

Ok, here's the "proof" of the M62 in the Civic Si kit -

http://www.jacksonracing.com/pages/c...50_civicsi.pdf

Look at part number 051-265.....its listed as S/C GEN3 M62CCW 4.2-4R

Now, the part for SOHC civics -

http://www.jacksonracing.com/pages/c...-100_civic.pdf

similarly in the parts listing.......051-414 is listed as S/C GEN3 M45CCW 3.8-4R
