Right axle?

Right axle?
Hey guys I am new to these cars. The car is a 1994 Honda Del Sol. The issue is that the passenger side cv axle is clicking from running on a torn boot. The car is VTEC so I am assuming it is the 1.6L VTEC engine. I got an axle from autozone that is a duralast reman P/N 8006.
Is this the right axle? The only reason why I am not sure is because the one on the car seemed to have a piece of rubber near the middle of the shaft. Although I couldn't really find a reason for the rubber to be there, the new one has nothing on the shaft. Also will I have to drain this automatic transmission during this job? I was told if the car is jacked up from that one side it will not leak when the axle is taken out. Thank you all for your information.

Re: Right axle?
Sounds like you have the wrong axle, there is no such thing as a automatic Del Sol VTEC. sounds like you have a del sol Si model, Vtec models have a b16a3 DOHC and Si models even though they are vtec too they have a SOHC d16z6

Re: Right axle?
Right it looks SOHC and it says VTEC right on the valve cover. However when looking online especially through Autozone's catalog there are only 3 options for 1994:
1994 Honda Civic del Sol: 4 Cylinders 1.6L MFI VTEC DOHC
Honda Civic del Sol S: 4 Cylinders 1.5L MFI SOHC
1994 Honda Civic del Sol SI: 4 Cylinders 1.6L MFI SOHC
I believe your right. This car can't be DOHC. So your saying that it is an SI 1.6L VTEC even though they aren't saying its VTEC?

Re: Right axle?
yeah the 1.6L in the car as long as its not a swapped motor is also vtec. single cam vtec d16z6, the 1.5 is definatly non vtec. I know at advance auto they have the actual engine codes when you go to the store to clear up any confusion

Re: Right axle?
yeah i just checked the autozone website. They don't describe the models very well. On their website
Del Sol = DOHC VTEC b16a3
Del Sol S = SOHC NON-vtec d15
Del Sol Si = SOHC VTEC d16z6
Del Sol = DOHC VTEC b16a3
Del Sol S = SOHC NON-vtec d15
Del Sol Si = SOHC VTEC d16z6

Re: Right axle?
You guys have been great. I just took P/N 8006 back and got P/N 7078. Still no rubber piece on the shaft but at least I know Its the part number they list for a 94 SI. Thanks a ton! You guys saved me a headache.

One quick question you guys. Will I need to drain the automatic transmission to take out this passenger side axle? If so what kind of fluid (Mercon VI etc.) and about 5-6 qts?

Re: Right axle?
I didn't have to drain the transmission although a little bit did spill out when I removed the axle. I just put in half a quart afterwards. It really did go smooth. Thank you all for the information it helped a lot.
