Revs go up very slowly in my B16a
Ok, i've noticed this small problem with my car. After having a ride in my mates EK4 with B16a it felt like his car pulled harder than my car, say when his car is driving along and is sitting on 3000rpm in 2nd gear and then he plants his foot. And he sat in my car and I did the same thing and he said my car's definately doesn't pull as hard as his car when im doing the same.
I know my timing is pretty advanced, is this robbing me of power?
Or any other solutions?

how advance is advanced?
how many mileage on your car and his car? how much do both cars weigh? whats the compression of your cylinders? what mods have you done and what mods have he done?
list goes on and on and on

Re: Revs go up very slowly in my B16a (hondaeg8)
Well I dont know if ive got used to the car since i purchased it or whatever but now it feels like its taking an eternity for the revs to go up when i put my foot down from around 3000rpm in 2nd gear.
The timing looks advanced as when you look at the distributor bolts you can clearly see the distributor has been turned to the firewall and the last owner must have used a marker pen and drew a line above the top distributor bolt.
I've recently replaced my spark plug wires and changed my oil. I thought my oil change might improve it but didn't.
Engine: B16a
Gearbox: Y21
Mods: Port and polished head, 2 layer thinner head gasket, short intake pipe with pod filter, 2.25" exhaust system decatted with RSR muffler.
Help!
Cheers

I suggest checking the cam timing...it will require pulling the valve cover.....
A buddy of mine got a motor and the thing just had nothing for power below 4000rpm.... after the timing marks got lined up, it was found that the car was a full tooth off...which is about 5deg retarded per tooth I believe.
I had the same issue with my EK4 hatch.... You may want to try changing your fuel filter as it seemed to help a bit with mine.
The one thing that really helped was changing the distributor cap and rotor. If you haven't done it in a while, try cleaning off your grounds on the car and even adding some more grounding straps.

Re: Revs go up very slowly in my B16a (RagingAngel)
How do I see if the cam timing is off? Do i take off the cambelt cover and see if the arrows point up on both camgears?
How many hours would a qualified mechanic take to fix cam timing?
Cheers

It shouldn't take more than 1.5hours from the time the mechanic puts his 10mm socket on the first of the valve cover nuts.
From then on in, he'll just have to line up the camgears...see if they line up to the TDC mark on the crank pulley....and if it doesn't...he'll loosen the timing belt...do whatever adjustment necessary...tighten the tensioner.
Button things back up and away you go.
