make sure the ignition coil in the dizzy still has the spring coming out of it that makes contact with the cap.

yea, i thought it was that too....see it happened after i did my minime conversion....first i used a z6 head and didnt convert to obd1, so the dizzy wasnt on right but it went fine up to 7200 rpm...so i decided to go with a y8 head, everthing fit fine, but the car kept hitting a wall at 5500, so i thought the head was bad, so i switched the old one back and it still the same thing....

thats when i was told that same thing you said, that my dizzy was going out, so i thought might was well convert it to obd1 so i run a p28....got a brand new dizzy, jumper harness, ecu and o2 sensor....put it on, and still the same thing happens....my set up, a6 block, z6 timing belt, aem adjustable cam gear to correct timming and a z6 head....

havent tried it yet, but i was told a clogged cat can cause this too, but havent had the time to disconnect the header from the cat to see if it will rev freely...

Last time I checked a del sol with a 1.5 didn't have VTEC! That might be your first problem!
