? on replacing valvetrain...
okay, im planning on replacing my b16a springs and retainers for some itr springs and retainer. my question is do you need any special tools to take them out and CORRECTLY put the new ones in? or do you just take it out and make sure that the new ones are facing the right side when you put them in? i mean is there a special tool you have to use to tighten the springs/retainers or can regular tools do that. thanks

You will need a spring compressor that can compress dual valve springs. The one from the tool warehouse works well.

Is the cyl head installed or removed from the engine?

You will also need to fill the cylinders with pressurized air to hold the valves up while you remove the springs. There are air chucks that go in the spark plug hole and allow you to hold pressure in the cylinder. This is something else you will need.
Good luck

Actually I think it is easier to have it off of the block personaly.
All you need is a spring compressor and some lithum grease cause it helps to hold the keepers on while decompressing the spring. Everything else is pretty easy ive done a few domestic and a couple of imports.
