Replacing my ignition switch
ok heres the deal. Some dbag thieves tried to take my car (93 eg hatch) leaving me with a broken ignition switch. I drove around for a while with no problems until it started shorting out after a little while, resulting in it smoking and even catching on fire one time. I finally ordered a new one and went to replacing it last night and realized you have to drill out the bolts and i dont even under stand how to get the new ones on. Any body have any experience with replacing these or have an idea of where to get the best info on doing this. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated thanx.

i used a dremel to cut slots in the old bolts and then a bigass screwdriver to turn them out. worked fine for me. those tamper-proof bolts are a huge pain in the *** no matter how you look at it.

You need to check to see if your fuse blew during your smoking/shorting/fire issues with the first ignition.
In the under-hood fuse box, check Fuse 41, it's an 80A fuse. Make sure it's not blown.

for the wiring i would get a chilton manuel they have the schematic in der. i really dont know the colors of the back of mind. u can jump the starter to see if it works grab a 16 gague wire or 14 wateva u have and pretty much go from the positve to the nega on the starter solanod. the postive would be the red wire going from the battery to the starter. the start should crank and if it does it means start is good

Re: Replacing my ignition switch (heeltoeNdro)
Remove the switch and try cranking it with a screw driver directly into the new switch to see if it starts. Not sure if the screwed up the ignition itself. Also, check all fuses, not just 1. Shorting out the switch could have lead to other problems.
