replacing distributor cap/rotor help plz
98 honda civic lx. two questions
I checked my repair manual, and the wire sequence is different than what I had on there already. What I had was
2 1
4 3
what it said to put is
4 1
3 2
Could it be an error or should i just leave it as i had it?
Also, I can't get my rotor off. I read that there is a small screw in the middle, and I think I see it, but I can't figure out how to turn the rotor so I can get to the screw.
any help is appreciated, thx

The correct sequence is:
3 4
1 2
where cylinders are numbered 4 3 2 1 when you are facing the engine. So your first sequence is correct but numbered backwards.
To get the rotor screw off, you need to crank the engine ever so slightly to turn it over until you can get to it. This is most easily done with someone watching and someone else cranking, but can be done by getting in and out of the car. It takes a few tries to get it.

You would know if your firing order was wrong. Keep it the same. Honda motors rotate counterclockwise. Some of those repair manuals seem like they were written off the top of someone's head. The firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2 just like every other four cylinder.
Put your car in gear, put the ebrake down, then pull on your strut bar so the car rolls forward. This will rotate the crank which in turn rotates that rotor so you can get to the screw. Use the right screwdriver. The last thing you want to do is strip it. Use a weak thread locker when you put the new one on. NOT THE GOOD STUFF.

Up to 2000 at least minus the F20C.
Anyway, moving the car while in gear may sound easier than it is. If you choose to do this, try 5th, not 1st. There's a reason people park it in 1st without the parking brake.
