Replaceing the clutch/flywheel. Swaped EK
I searched but didnt find anything... i dont really know what to type in in the search tho... what i want to know is when i go to replace my clutch and flywheel this summer will i be able to pull the tranny off to replace them while the engine is still in the engine bay.
I have a 1997 EK with a B18C engine (GSR) Gsr intake manny... is there going to be enough room so i dont bend the imput shaft while trying to get that trans out of there? or am i going to have to pull the whole engine?
Thanks Guys.

you can drop the tranny from the bottom, just take off both axles and half shaft b4 you do..ask for clutch and flywheel, get it for what tranny you got. so in your case get a clutch/flywheel for a hydro gsr

Re: (ekb16)
yeah i aleady have the clutch and flywheel picked out i just wasnt sure if there was going to be enough room between the tranny and the passenger side "engine bay walls" to be able to slide the tranny out enough to drop it.
so there is enough room? can anyone confirm this? personal experiences? i already know how to do everything such as remove axles unbolt starter drain fluid, unbolt shift linkage.. all that good **** just worried about clearance.

you can pull out just the tranny. remove the starter, cylinder, trans fluid, trans mounts, axles, there is a dust shield also where the block meets the tranny. think there's a bracket that you need to remove. don't forget to drain the fluid before you pull out the axles. also, make sure the block is supported up before you remove the trans mounts. time consuming but doable.

Re: Replaceing the clutch/flywheel. Swaped EK (TypeSLO)
ok i think everyone is missing the point. i have done multipule clutch replacements.. however that was in my old car with the stock engine.. to get the tranny out we would have to do all the basic things to free it from the bolck and car, then slide it to the passenger side enough so that the imput shaft of the tranny was out of the clutch ans FW. now.. there was enough room in a EG with a D series engine.. however i now own a EK with a B18 in it. my delima is will there be enough room to actualy slide the trans far enough to remove it from the clutch and FW.... keep in mind this is a much larger engine than what comes in the car... thank you again

have you personally done it? i dont want to get my whole tranny unbolted and then come to find out i need to pull my engine anyways because there is not enough room. pulling the engine is not that much harder... but still... a lot easier to just do the tranny
bump for someone that has replaced there own clutch in a EK with e B18
Thanks

just go for it if it doesn't fit then you are all ready half way to pulling the whole engine out so whats the pain in trying. also from what ive seen it should fit but never done it myself.
