i replaced the oil seal on my distributor and now i cant get the car to start, it cranks over like it wants to but doesn't pop off.

I already checked for spark and it was good, its got a good battery, and is getting plenty of fuel. the plug wires are in the right order also.

not sure what is causing this any help is greatly appreciated

take the cap off and check its not 180 deg out
rotor should be pointing at #1 when crank is on TDC
also check your timming once you get it started

Did you mark it before removing? Take it off and turn the rotor 180 or shaft and put it back on.

Make, model, engine? Most honda distributors and rotors only install in one direction so installing those in the wrong position is highly unlikely.

d16z engine. I've tried everything I can think of and even tried tdc, still won't start, do the magnets need to be a certain gap from the propeler on the shaft.

did you check the tdc is corrrect and your not at bdc
alot of people make this mistake
thats why it wil be 180Deg out

pull the valve cover put crank at tdc check valves are both loose on piston 1
also check the timing mark on the cam gear
then check your dizzy

Thanks for all the help, I pulled a bonner move and forgot screw the two wires back on the coil. It's running like a champ now.
