Replaced Distributor engine won't start
Hey, noob question.
I had the typical oil leak from my Z6 distributor, so i bought a used one. The leak is gone, but when i would "Get into VTEC(H) y0" it would stutter and lose power. Then the car started dying when i came to a stop. I decided to swap out the internals from my working distributor, to the replacement. I replaced the rotor, cap, and coil. Now the car doesn't start, it just cranks. Could i have the timing off? I tried different things, swapping the old stuff into the new distributor, swapping caps, coils only, etc. I've tried putting everything back to what it was, and it still does not start. On the distributor, what spark plug wire goes to which plug/Cylinder? I think i might have that off.

yay, so i took everything apart, put it back together, and the old (leaking) and the new (no vtech) distributors work. but when i change anything, neither work.

Re: Replaced Distributor engine won't start (snoochtodanooch)
if you look at the "shaft" on the distributor, that coonects to the cam, there's a rubber gasket that wears away. It's not noticeable when you take it out until you compare it to a good one. It doesn't seal completely, and leaks around the edges. Mine was really bad, and i lost about a quart every three thousand miles.
edit: i took everything apart again, swapped everything for a second time, and the car fired right up. works great.
