Default Repeating starter failures

I have a '93 with a OBD1 GSR motor. It gets seldom use, only for track days every 2-3 months or so.

Anyways, having issues with the starting system. I have run into the same issue on two working starters. IMO I have had very few issues with starters so I don't think the actual starter itself is the issue.

I can start the car once on a good starter, run it until warm, drive it around etc., and then turn it off. When I go to start the car next time, regardless of warm/cold:

- All lights illuminate
- Fuel pump primes
- MIL light on/off (no code)
- Fuses OK
- Battery is 12V

But, when I move the key to crank, I just get a fast clicking noise but no movement in the engine at all.

Any ideas on where to look first?

Swapped the starter for a known good one. It fired up on the first turn after install. Then I let it sit for a few hours, went back to start it and that's when I experienced the fast clicking.

Have also checked the battery voltage and terminal connections and they were OK.

So you didn't bother to try jumpstarting it?

Check your alternator and your electrical system for parasitic draws.
