use some Jig-a-loo.i use that to degrease stuff and i was changing my oil last week and spilled some oil on the valve cover.sprayed some jig a loo on it and a lot of the paint came off from just wiping it off with a paper towel.

go to your local auto parts store and get some aircraft paint remover. spray a few layers on the valve cover and let it soak for a few minutes, rinse it off then sand it down.

but what about those hard to reach crevices on the valve cover?
i dont think ill be able to get to them with sandpaper, should i just soak it and rinse?

you can try and soak it for a bit and if that does not work then try using a brush.
