Rented a valve spring compressor from autozone, why won't it work???

Rented a valve spring compressor from autozone, why won't it work???
maybe I'm that dumb but I can't get it to fit on the springs right, what's the deal? y8 head

unfortunatly, autozone nor advance carry the correct valve spring compressor. the one that you need looks like this:
either of the three will work but I suggest getting one that looks like the big one in the pic. this works the best. hope this helps!!

Guess I'm McGywver (sp) then, my compresser from Advance with simple mod to fit the retainers worked flawlessy install the Bisimoto valvesprins on my B7 head last week.

socket, hammer, wrench, and a friend. works every time. put a socket on the retainer and hit it with the hammer. out comes the keepers. just be careful moving the socket, cause the keepers will fall, watch them. to install you will need a friend and a wrench. put the retainer on the spring and push it down while your friend puts the keepers in and let up on the spring. the wrench trick only works on d-series. for b-series you need the big spring compressor
