Removing side panels
I see a lot of peoples cars without the side planning (that black strip of plasic that runs down either side of the car to protect the door if it opens on something), all the cars I've seen with that removed are clean under there. It painted under there? Arent there holes where the paneling was embedded in?

Re: Removing side panels (94blackhatch)
the cx doesnt come with moldings. Any other cars that you see that does not have a molding (aside from the newer models) prob have had their moldings shaved.

Yes i had a 1993 civic LX and it had the moldings. There are small holes under the stripping. I had a buddy that works at a custom shop and it was gonna be like $200, to get them shaved. I think they look good on or off i prefer off though but it was gonna be really expensive to get the doors to look like the CX's, beacause its hard to get in there and sand the welds down. Ive seen people just put fiberglass in there but it cracks eventually. Hope this long post helps.

Re: Removing side panels (93civic_sedan)
what we did was have a welder stick some small squares of metal behind the holes and weld them shut. then we put a SUPER light coat of bondo over the holes and sanded them smooth. The only downfall to this method is that the heat made one of the doors a tiny bit wavy. you cant really see it, but of course I can, when im squinting and looking at an angle lol

The side moldings look bad when removed unless you shave the whole thing and fill in so there is no indentation into the door. The holes cna be filled in with fiberglass/bondo whatever, but I would jsut keep them on there or get them painted.
