A little while back i bought some ksport coilovers and LCAs off of a buddy of mine for my eg for cheap. downside is that he painted most of the orange (kind of the trademark color of ksports) flat black as he parked his eg on the street every night. i dont really care about the coilovers since you cant see them much anyways, but i would like to remove the paint on the lcas, because i like the orange.

i heard that oven cleaner would remove the black paint, but im not sure. what else might do it without ruining the orange finish?

You might have a hard time finding something that will take the paint off without ******* up the powder coating... Paint thinner might do it.... Why worry about it? Stealthy!

I've suggested this before, cause I live by the stuff...3M adhesive remover. I used to use it when I painted to take overspray off of bumper covers, cause it was strong enough to do so, but not as strong as thinner where it would warp and discolor plastic/rubber. The only bad part is that if you let the automotive paint dry for an extended period of time, it was harder to remove (really easy, right out of the bake booth). 3M adhesive remover is great for lots of stuff, like removing tar, and bugs off of your car.

You could try dipping it in paint thinner. just a thought.

will this work on the interior without ruining the dash or door panels? i've got silver overspray all over everything in there and no matter how much i clean it, it still looks dirty

You could try it, just start in an area that will be hard to spot, just to test it out first. It shouldn't discolor the panels. I use it on all kinds of different plastics (side moldings, bumpers, appliques) and never had a problem.

i figured i'd try in a concealed spot first. just didn't want to try if you knew it would cause a problem. thanks bro

Go to Wal mart in the car paint section and pick up some Aircraft Remover. Just dip some on it and you will start to seee the paint coming off in minutes. Literally.

yea thats what i used for my valve cover, but im pretty sure thats going to damage the finish, thats strong ****

yeah, Aircraft stripper is strong stuff...gotta be careful with it.

My understanding is that aircraft stripper won't remove the anodising, but it will remove any sort of protective clear coat that is covering the anodising.

true. i guess i'll just try like the least abrasive thing i can find, and work my way up if it doesnt work. i could always re-clear coat them.
