Removing oil pan on D15b7
Having trouble getting to last 2 oil pan bolts on either side next to transimission. Took out 2 bolts (that I can see) on the transmission cover plate but cannot wiggle it free. Is there a bolt or something holding this behind the left drive axle? Fustrated and it's now dark out (working outside in a dirt driveway), I went to the I-net to look for a diagram and found this site. Have not had this del sol very long and it's my first. Just finished changing the left drive axle, so you would think this oil pan replacement would be easy. Am I missing something??? Hope somebody can help.

I took off the (2) bolts out of the oil pan that go through the tranny plate, then the (2) bolts that hold the tranny plate on at the bottom of the tranny. The one side is free, but the side closest to the drive axle is hung up somehow, and I can't see in there to see what's hanging it up. I'm working on the ground under jackstands and can only get it up so high. The plate moves around some, and it don't seem like there's another bolt behind the axle where it butts into the tranny, but there is something holding it. I have been pushing and shoving with a long screwdriver to no avail. I've been at it for hours now and gave up for the night. It's 10:40 PM here in NY and it ain't so warm out either. SOmething that seems so easy to do is driving me crazy!

The last (2) bolts holding the pan on is only accessable once I get that stupid tranny plate off.

He is right. I have a D16Z6 and there are two cast-aluminum braces holding the tranny plate on. However, I don't think your engine has these "engine stiffeners" and you would have noticed if you did.
Good luck getting the tranny cover plate off, once you do the rest of the job should be easy.

One other thing to mention...I unfastened the flange that connects to the exhaust pipe bracket, which have (2) nuts on the bottom. I can't get the bracket off because I have to push up to clear the down-pointing bolts from the bracket, but the oil pan is in the way so I can't get it cleared, however it is loose. It looks like it might help if I could get that flange out of the way...maybe.
