Default Removing molded sideskirts?

Hey i kno this belongs in appearance but i dont have privilages to post in there yet. Anyway. Theres a shell i checked out but it has molded sideskirts. I was wondering if it would be okay to carefully remove the sideskirts and bondo and then sand away the rest?

Anyway would this be a bad idea, and how would you do it?
