Removing EK Mid Wing...
hey guys, well i created a thread about the ek hatch mid-wing
( https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=967000), i bought my car with the mid-wing already on my car, sooo it wasnt my choice to put it on, well i want to remove it and there is i think 4 or 6 holes that were drilled to put the mid-wing on, if i remove it, will the holes rust? how do i go about fillling in the holes with bondo and welding sheet metal on teh back/sanding/painting it? whats the proper procedure to fix this? i know an easy solution would be a C/F trunk hatch. or should i take it to a shop and about how much am i looking to spend at a shop? thanks any help or info would be helpful

Why not actually take it to a few shops to get estimates?

Best solution is to just find another EK hatch trunk to replace it. Bondoling and repainting it will cost more or just about a new replacement. Go to junk yards I'm pretty sure there are EK's lying around. Where I live there are 2 EK's with wrecked front-ends with back trunk hacthes still in-tact. GL. Why the heck did you even bother buying an EK with the mid-wing???

uh...it doesnt cost as much to cover up the holes as buying a new hatch... ...just go to a shop and ask for estimates. They usually charge per body panel so, it shouldnt cost too much for a bondo job.

You can't put body filler over a hole, chatch. The correct way to fix it would be to either spot-weld sheet metal behind and putty over the top or cut the drilled sections out and reweld new sheetmetal in. Regardless, body work is expensive and, considering the cost of a package of flat rubber plugs at lowes, I'd say either get a new hatch from a scrapyard or leave the wing on.

I'm going to need a picture of you before I continue to comment in your direction. I say that because commenting needs to take place and I don't want to **** off the resident hot chick. I've been gone a while. Humor me.

How deep are the holes? If they go all the way through then you will need to weld a small piece of metal on the inside and then bondo it smooth. If theres a backing to it, then you could just put bondo on it and sand it. Although if its deep the bondo might crack.
Best thing to do if you want to do it is get a piece of metal, cut it up to fit each hole, weld it on, bondo, sand, and primer or color or primer and color it and your done.
Really easy and shouldnt cost more then 30 bucks and thats mostly the paint supplies provided you have a welder. But its really easy to do, i did alot of it in autobody.
