Default removing dash for paint prep, Q(srs)

im strippin my buddies car tomorrow and i would like to know about the airbags. i know that i have to undo the battery and i know how to remove the dash. so, all u have to do is unplug them? cause ive been reading, and a few posts say they can still go off? is it possible for them to go off when unplugged? we might remove them too so...input pls

unplug batt. wait like 10-20 mins to be safe.. take off bolts/nuts. and pull it out. should be safe to take out once the car has no power..

thought air bags still deployed even if the car has no power idnt kno just thought

they have a backup battery which lasts a few minutes at best. even so they are not going to randomly deploy by unplugging them.

He is right, they just wont deploy by being detached. By where each of the airbag wiring connects to the dash SRS harness there will be a little red short connector. Be sure to attach that to the airbag just in case because they can be accidentally deployed if even static electricity hits the pins in the clip just right. And be sure when you set them aside that they are facing up. Don't lay them on the side where the airbag comes out. If they are laying like this and do deploy watch out for a flying airbag. Get busted in the head by a flying airbag and you might not live.
