well you can either just un bolt the line from the pump outside and walk away for awhile, but i wouldnt, it is dangerous, take it and have the freons removed by a pro,
then just unbolt everything and remove.

by the way what kind of car?

What are your power goals?

I highly recommend keeping your A/C. There manifold and downpipe combo's that enable you to retain it.
