Default removing bumper supports

I know this topic starts a massive flaming campaign. I realized I'm risking life a limb and could die at any second but I removed the bumper supports in my del sol. I got a lot of different #'s when I asked what they weighed. The front weighs 13lbs and the rear weighs 15lbs.

yeah...sounds like a real smart idea for removing just under 30lbs
get a cf hood and get about the same loss

That was kind of my point. It's not really worth bothering with. Some people were saying they weighed over 50lbs. I do have a carbon fiber hood.

I didn't weigh mine but they definitely don't come close to those numbers.

Have you ever seen a 5th gen civic after a head on crash? Even if you have
it your still screwed. Its a 5mph bumper anyway isn't it? Its for when you bump
into a pole you don't fold your radiator support in half. If this was true and I
raced my car, a 28 pound weight reduction would be worth it for the track days.

These things are not going to save much. Jump on the bumper support band wagon.

Americans are safety freaks...So many people bash the removal of this piece but every Interga members with the JDM front end have all done the same thing...Removed it in favor of the JDM front end.

Do what you want with your car bro...In all honesty, if you get in a beefy enough accident to question your bumper support you're most likely toast anyways.

Trust me, when you rear-end momma's SUV and the front of your car is non-existent you'll wish your car weighed 50 lbs more. I had a cwest front end on my civic along with a CF hood and other goodies... until I wrecked it. Luckily the guy that does my bodywork is a genius and was able to straighten my frame. I guess it's cool that along with all the parts I had to buy I didn't have to buy a bumper support.

It's your car.

RIP

I don't know how it is where you guys live but in GA, or I should say in GA with Nationwide Insurance. If you get in a wreck, minor and major, and the bumper supports are removed the insurance company can deny coverage for your vehicle whether you're at fault or not. So that means regardless of you being "toast" in the crash or not, if you want your car to look all nice and clean again, you're gonna have to come out of pocket $$$. Just my $.02

BTW, info is accurate, my mother works for nationwide
