Default Removing all theblack stuff under seats and in trunk

I dunno what its called exactly. if someone could inform me of the name thank you but meanwhile i took out my seats and tire and all that. but i wanna get rid of all the black stuff too because i plan on spray painting the inside all black or something but i wanna get rid of this first. how do you do so? i would search but i dunno what its called

Is that the sound-absorbing tar? I think it is. Don't remove it, the car will sound like a tin can. You can paint over it.

it's a black tar like substance.. i think its called.. tar. Some people like a loud car, i couldn't stand driving in a quite car.. yawn

if you want to remove it, use dry ice and a scrapper. Search, plenty of stripped car threads

like said above use dry ice and scraper. dont use heat gun it takes way too long and doesnt get as clean. i saw a write up on k20.org not too long ago if you want to search their site.

Or if you live in a colder climate, just leave it outside on a freezing night, then go after it with a paint scraper. That ish is heavy. I pulled the tar out of just under the driver's and passenger's seats and behind them on my coupe, and it was heavy.... didn't weigh it, but it felt like 15 lbs or so. That stuff is all over the bottom of the car, too.

Oh... I believe it's called sound deadening tar.
