Removing "EX" symbol.
I'm trying to remove the "EX" symbol on my 2000 civic, i got most of the sticky shit off with goof off but theres still some left that i can't get off with goof off. How can i get the rest off of the car without ruining the paint? If you look close you can still see a little bitty outline of the "EX" which i'm trying to remove. Thx in advance,

ok, if its really hot out, take something small and stick it inbetween the symbol, it will come off slowly, just take your time, or use a heat gun if you have one. thats how i de-badged my MX-6 and the pinstriping came off real fast in the heat but i didn't care about the paint for the pinstripes cuz im repainting it flat black. just take your time and heat it up. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

goo-gone and get it wet sanded and buffed!

Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (Prettyboy01)
I used 3m adhesive remover on my graphics and they came off
nicely |
Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (Prettyboy01)
best way to keep everything safe:
use a blow dryer for like 5 minutes. get behind it with some floss or string to get off the tape, use goo gone or simple green, cause simple green will do anything. yeah the tape sucks, itll take maybe 20 minutes to get off with just water and a fingernail. i know from experience. |

Why don't you just use some compound???

Goo Gone, let it sit a little, then start rubbing. Done it to over 10 cars, never harmed the paint once.

If you mean rubbing compound, I wouldnt recommend it. I tried it and it wound up dulling my clear coat. A good https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif to that. I've found anything with an alcohol base works well on adhesive material. Just be sure its not too abrasive. |
Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (R1)
scrub that bitch with goof off, and then try waxing or compounding the area... try that a couple times, should come off

Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (japspecjohn)
Ok i'v been going back and fourth scrubbing the last bit of outline of the EX and then switching to buffing it out with wax and vice versa. I don't know, the last bit looks like its on there pretty good but i'm slowly getting off tiny bits little by little, how much you guys think ill have to repeat this process before this shit finally gets off? Im scrubbing as hard as i can with a rag with goof off on it then switching to buffing it out with wax.

Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (Prettyboy01)
Don't switch back and forth, just get it all off at one time. If the paint is less faded, your just going to have a slight ghost of the ex still there. Wax wont really help you there.

Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (MetalKill)
Anyone try just using some alcohol?
|
WD-40. Removed the Accord and EX symbol off and all the goop after it.

Re: (Dimi)
I used laquer thinner but I wouldn't reccommend it. It did take the glue off but my budddy used his fingernail while it was still kinda wet and he put a small scratch in the paint. (you learn from your mistakes). I would use that goo-off or maybe some simple green.

Re: (SirRevvs)
for metal or plastic badges use a piece of fishing string slip under the backside of the emblem pull back and forth across the emblem and to get the rest of the sticky goo off use goo gone

Re: (jspresso)
ive found nail polish remover to work quite well
ive used it a couple of times to remove badges... no damage to the paint so far jus dab a lil bit of remover on a polishing rag and rub away! |
Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (Prettyboy01)
try some 3m compound that is safe for clear coats
worked good for me |
Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (vtec69)
can some of you not read.. he does'nt need advice on how to -de-badge- his ex, he needs to remove excess resadue left over. just keep scrubbing with goo-gone, and soapy water. also, 2000 grit would work, just be carefull, wet sand

Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (Prettyboy01)
heatgun or blowdryer, look for paint safe solvents at ur hardware store

Re: Removing "EX" symbol. (95eghatch)
