Removal of drive pulleys?
Im trying to replace the crank shaft seal due to an oil leak and im stuck not being able to get the drive shaft pulleys off. I am using a strap wrench to try to hold the pulleys from rotating but I have had no luck. Every time I try to crank on the bolt the pulleys still are able to slip in the strap.
Any one have a better method to getting these off. I would but the car into gear to stop them from moving but the car is has an auto trans

Re: Removal of drive pulleys?
isnt there an access panel on the tranny where it meets the engine and using a hole in the flywheel/torque converetor thingie you can hold it in place to keep it from rotating. dont bend anything though

Yeah air tools would be nice but none at my disposal, the hynes book says to use a strap or chain wrench. Already wasted $30 on the only strap wrench I could find.

Re: Removal of drive pulleys?
You can build something like that with some pipe fittings. I think it's like a 1 1/2 inch reducer, a T fitting and a section of pipe. Anyone want to explain how to make that one or find OP a link?

Re: Removal of drive pulleys?
Easiest way, take it to a shop, have them take off the bolt. Then have them tighten it a little bit, so you can drive home and take it off.
I tried everything man, took a nice 2 big chunks out of mine before I could get it off.
I do have the 50mm hex tool if you want to borrow it, just pay for shipping both ways. Also need a $30 deposit that will be returned when I get the tool back.

Re: Removal of drive pulleys?
I pm'd you. It'll be around the same cost if you just buy one from Amazon from what RonJ posted, $24.99 is a little more than what shipping both ways will cost. Plus, there's free shipping on that if you add a small item like $1 to bump it over $25.
