Its probably registered as a rhd conversion. If everything works perfectly all you should have to do is take it to the ref and get it bar certified. Because some parts of WA don't require smog.

he said that he has taken car of everything with the chp and federal things in washington. i would assume that that would basically cover everything needed for CA also. the only thing i would think that i need to do is take it to get a bar sticker which shouldnt be too hard for a 94

no, it wouldn't... it would have to re-pass everything in california... including providing RHD crash-test data... i should know about this... i've imported two cars so far... theres a bunch of fees you'll have to pay... smog is smog... you pass it or you don't... make changes to make it pass smog... as for registering... thats where you need to provide lots and lots of information... its a pain in the ***... but if you think the car and time that it takes to get it registered (which can take months) go for it... RHD cars are rare...

if anything, contact dmv and chp...
its different for every state, california usually being the most strict

imported 2 cars or registered 2 cars?. cause ive never heard anyone mention crash test data.
if its already registered your prob ok just transfering the reg over to cal.
if it was done legit in wa it would already have vin numbers and a reg to match.
so youd prob just have to smog it.
but there is a possibity that a dick cop will noticetheres no ca ref sticker and send you to one

as long as you dont have to go see a ref to smog it. im sure youll be ok..
smog is the easiest step. as long as a ref isnt doing it. finding someone to take a 100$ isnt very hard

well... never imported a car from one state to another... my evo7 came to florida and got driven on a truck in a container to CA... my s15 came straight to CA... both cars were imported and registered... different processes for both... for evo7 i had to do a lot of paperwork and provide lots of information and everything... even had help from a company to get it registered for street legal use... the s15 was a breeze, i registered it for race only... and that was all i had to do... so its not street legal but thats fine, it was never my intention...

im just thinking that you will have to provide all the necessary info again... but as long as you have the paperwork and stuff, it should be easy...since its already passed and you dont have to obtain it...

TYFLIP2,

I think if you decide not to purchase this car you should email me this guys information. I live in Seattle. I'd appreciate it.

FYI: We do have smog tests in Seattle, it's just that depending on what city you live in and which county you are exemp from getting sniffed. Though, like people have mentioned, the California tests set the example. You live in the most PC state in the nation when it comes to automobiles. Your laws are much more stringent. It doesn't matter if the car passed here in Seattle or not. It's a new car in the eyes of the CHP and it has to go through all of your state and local tests before you can change the title over to your name, and get it registered. If you happen to have shitty luck and you can't get it to pass, well, you just paid alot of money for a drive way queen, because that's as far as the CHP will let you move it.
