Re: Refresh of 94 Civic Si w/ ABS after accident
In my cleaning, I pulled the spare out and inflated it back up to the recommended 60 PSI. While cleaning the spare tire well I found the missing nut for the tail light housing.

Is it the same springs? I've known the springs to groan and creak just from compression and expansion on their own.

I think we used the factory springs in the KYBs when we changed those out - years ago. The KYBs went in probably in 2005...

Can you get the sound when pushing down on the car by hand?
If you can, you might work with a friend as a team and see if it's just spring creak.

Only remedy for spring creak is to take the KYBs apart and replace the rubber inserts that ride between the springs and the bodies, correct?

Thinking about replacing the old spring insulators got me thinking about just replacing my KYBs that went in probably ~2005.
wxman94ej1 reported in his thread that he likes the KYB AGX + H&R OE SPort Springs:

In my searching, I see that KYB is giving $100 rebate when you buy all 4 corners:

H&R Springs at a nice price:
H&R OE Sport springs for Integra:

I am going down the rabbit hole in an effort to get rid of the squeaks and clunks...

Wow OP, just read through the entire thread... what great attention to detail, really can't say that enough.
Your build is exactly what I'm looking to do with my EJ8, B18c + an OEM-ish refresh through out.
Inspirational stuff man, subscribed!

To be honest, I just live with creaks, but I'm also limited on funds thus the used OEM part refresh.

I'm not sure about that. I was under the impression the metal itself could creak on compression and expansion. Sounds different than rubber squeak. However, I believe I have seen others solve their problem with new top hats which would mean new rubbers between....

My time is so limited these days that if I get the chance to dig on something, I really want to fix it. I have creaking from the rear and kind of a chirp-chirp in the front. Maybe I am being a little OCD about wanting to get rid of the weird noises.

I don't quite yet, right now I'm saving/sitting on funds, wondering what to tackle first.
Really couldn't ask for a cleaner base to start with (especially for an Iowa car). Needs a pair of junkyard fenders, Si lips and grill, complete debadge, and it'll be ready for a respray.
Here's a couple quick ones on her in the parking lot this AM:
^^^ this is where a lot of TLC is going to be needed.
The engine bay is all stock minus some no name intake/filter, and 238k miles of wear and tear, nothing to see there yet... after seeing what replacing almost every hose in the bay looks like on yours, definitely the way I want to go with this DD.
Anyway, real thread coming here soon

Ah, that would be interesting if it is just the spring metal itself.

Re: Refresh of 94 Civic Si w/ ABS after accident
After reading TomCats post I decided to look at my rear right suspension because it was making a clunking noise and to locate the squeak. Turns out the boot cover fell down from where it was suppose to be held up and it was bouncing around making contact with the rod every time I hit a bump. As for the squeak all the bushings look good so I decided to lower the car slowing and had my hand on the tophat, by doing that I felt the squeak really good from that point and I think I'm 80% sure the rubber is probably worn down. I'm surprise that the fronts don't do it but only the rear considering I did replace the bushings up there too.
Have you done anything about it?

I replaced the coil rubber piece that sits under the tophat, the bushings in the tophat actually look solid af, ITR tophat. But either way I finally found a set of CTR's so those are going in.

Man I have been slacking! Have not done much but drive her, but that is a good thing!
I did get a few moments and swapped the relays for AC compressor and fan. We'll see if that gets the AC working consistently. It has been pretty inconsistent up until now.
Luckily it only does not work when it is hot out...
And I had a little picture to go with this, but either the site won't take it, or my work won't let me. Bugger...

Re: Refresh of 94 Civic Si w/ ABS after accident
Did you try pressing in a little hard on the button (holding it in)? When it's hot, cracked solder joints inside loose connection for the compressor clutch signal. If I pressed in on the button, the compressor kicks on until I let go. Some people remove the unit and re-solder all the connections inside to fix this. I just pop the button out and jam the point of a wooden bbq skewer in to press down on the top of the board and it works.

No, I have not tried this! Are the solder joints inside the button/switch?
Am I pulling the whole climate control module to replace this?
Thanks!
Sounds like cracked solder joints are the weakness for EGs. My speedo is funky...

Yes the button on the dash. Push in on it and see if the compressor kicks on. If it kicks on, then yes you have to remove the climate control and take it apart to re-solder the board. There are detailed write-ups on here for doing this job.
The BBQ skewer works fine for me tho. I keep one in my ash-try.

I found this thread on removing the climate control: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...-dash-2995589/
Now need to find a good one on re-soldering....

Do you have a favorite climate control board re-solder thread?
Thanks!
