I would not change the fuel rail. I don't see how that affects emissions

If the person you are selling to knows anything about buying used cars is that before you can transfer ownership through a sale, the car must pass smog first.

Another way around that is to come up with a contract with the buyer stating that the car is sold AS IS. That's how I got rid of my "gross polluter" gmc van.

Or another way is to pass ownership as "gift."

Doesnt matter, if you sell a car, you have to get it smogged again.

last september i got pulled over driving my 2002 RSX and was cited for a 27156 VC (Modified Emissions). It was one day after i got my turbo kit installed too.

The cop said i had to go to the state ref to get my car inspected and slapped a state ref sticker on the ticket.

She also added a warning on the citation where if i got pulled over again before having my car get inspected at the State Referee.. my car will get impounded. 2 weeks later, i just paid the $300 full bail amount and didnt have to go to State ref

That's what I did, I just paid the ticket...The ref. didn't what to sign off on my ticket. I took off the exhuast and header, and pretty much brug the car back to stock...Then the ref. said he would sign off, once I take off my tint and lift the ride height...I told him he was crazy, and went to court to pay my 250 dollar ticket...

Well going to the state ref is going to cost you a small fee if you get it fixed. However, if you do not fix it, the fine will be 300 max, You still will not get a point on your record.

1. If your feeling lucky, go to court and hope the officer isnt there so the judge can dismiss the case!

I got pull over and the cop tell me to pop my hood and I got a ticket for my intake and exhaust. The intake fine was 359 dallors and the exhaust fine was 99 dallors. It all depend what area code you live in then the fine will be different. Go pay it or take it to the Ref, it up to you. Good Luck .

It doesn't, but modifying your fuel system in any way is illegal in CA. Similar to the way that bolting on a K&N filter won't cause your car to produce more emissions, however it's still illegal unless it's equipped with a CARB EO number.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by V8-eater &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">do i wait for the ticket in the mail? and if i pay the ticket whats next? but say if i go to the ref with the parts back to stock. what would be the fee if any? and wut results after that? </TD></TR></TABLE>

The bail notice will come in the mail. If you pay it, then you're done, but if you get pulled over and cited again for things like "disconnected pollution control device - 27156b," future fines will increase.

i got popped the smae way and the only two things you can do is go get it inspected and signed off or just pay for the ticket which is gonna be $500-$800. selling your car is not going to get you dismissed from the ticket, so dont try it. the only way that will work is if you are not the registered owner, then you can say that you dont own that car so you couldnt do anything about it.
