Default reducing weight on a cx

Hey I want to know what I can do the take some weight off my cx. I would like to keep all the interior. So far I have taken out the rubber padding on the fire wall and next is the sound deading under the front seats. Anything else I can take off(took the spare out) to take alittle weight off. Thanks

Troy

be gentle, but remove the sidewalls from the rear. Get some tin snips. Mark the holes that you need to keep to re-install those interior panels when you're done. Now any holes not marked, open those up by removing inches from each one with the tin snips. then reinstall your interior. some goof on a site claims he lost 20 pounds like this.

The CX never came with power steering.

And lexan windows scratch pretty easily and they are about $450 or more for the 3 rear windows.

check this. My 92 cx, didn't come with a passenger mirror. I dunno if thats canada spec, but yeah that could also shave some ounces.

No 1992 CX's came with passenger mirrors. It was a "dealer installed option".

Light wheels
carbon fiber hood
lexan windows
replace your stock seats
aftermarket brakes (may be lighter than stocks)
fuel cell
race battery (smaller and lighter than stock)

It is probably easier/cheaper to add more power to overcome the weight than try to shave a few more pounds off your CX. Dont remove any support/safty stuff unless you are sure about what you are doing.

stock 5th gen civic steering wheel is 9.3 lbs with the air bag
drivers seat is about 25 lbs
tires , well I'll take a little added weight for better performance and BRAKING

I dont drag race so you can go in front of me at the "1320"

take out the sound deadening , carpet padding , firewall mat and back seats , cover and spare tire and lose 72 lbs

almost forgot. Drain the oil from your engine and the coolant from your radiator, it doesnt do anything but add weight anyway.

What about paint?? think of how much a buckett of paint weighs? You could strip your paint and polish your sheet metal.

I removed my rear seats, all panels, carpet, spare tire, stereo,.....well everything behind the front seats. Didn't really notice too much of a difference. The difference I felt was probably from taking out the spare and the stereo. It's not really worth the time cause you aren't gonna gain much.
